Voice & Tone

This is how Oolio sounds.

Oolio's tone of voice is warm, approachable, and grounded in the realities of hospitality life. It's designed to feel like a trusted partner rather than a distant service provider, striking a balance between professional confidence and genuine human connection. The same voice carries across every page, asset, and piece of collateral. That consistency is what makes the brand feel whole.

How we sound

Human, not corporate
We're a technology company, but our heart is in hospitality. We talk like people who've worked a Friday night service, not software salespeople. No jargon, no hollow buzzwords. Just clear, genuine communication that respects the reader's time.

❌ "Streamline your operational efficiencies with our seamless platform."
✅ "One system. Zero headaches."

Confident, not arrogant
We know this industry deeply, and it shows in how we speak. We're direct and assured without being dismissive. We let 50 years of expertise do the talking.

Warm, not casual
We care about the people and venues we work with. That warmth comes through without sliding into informality that undermines credibility. We're professional and approachable at the same time.

Clear, not simple
We make complex things easy to understand, but we never talk down to our audience. Hospitality operators are experienced, smart people. We write for them accordingly.

Language rules

  • We use UK English: spelling and grammar (not American).
  • We never use jargon. no "streamline efficiencies," "operational," or "seamless."
  • We use informal yet professional language. Contractions are encouraged: "we're," "you'll," "it's."
  • Sentences are short and impactful. We use rhythm and repetition for emphasis.
  • The reader is always the hero. Lead with "you/your" — not "we."

Point of view

  • Second person: "you/your"
Default. Speaks directly to venue owners and teams. The reader is the hero.
  • First person plural: "we/our"
Oolio as a collective partner standing beside the customer.
  • Third person
Used sparingly, for testimonials or when describing team members.

Tone in context

Our voice stays the same. The tone shifts to match the situation.

Marketing and campaigns
Energetic, inspiring, and outcome-focused. Lead with the benefit. Show what's possible.

"Pour. Plate. Pay. Everything your venue needs, connected."

Product UI and in-app copy
Clear, calm, functional. Every word earns its place. Guide the user confidently without overwhelming them.

"Transaction complete. Here's your summary."

Support and customer communications
Warm, reassuring, and solution-focused. Acknowledge the issue, move quickly to resolution. Never clinical, never dismissive.

"We're on it. Here's what happens next."

Partner and vendor materials
Professional and credible. Assume expertise. Lead with shared goals rather than product features.

"Your partner in service."

Stylistic devices

  • Antithesis and contrast: "Chaos out, order in." / "Juggle orders, not screens."
  • Direct address: "Check out our POS." / "Want to know more?"
  • Short, punchy sentences: "Fast service, faster payments." / "Real people, real support."
  • Rhythm and repetition: "Every table, every tab — handled." / "Every plate, every payment — handled."

Approved boilerplate (for press, partner sites, and association materials):

"Oolio is a hospitality technology company that provides POS, payments, online ordering, loyalty, inventory and integrations for hospitality businesses. Over the years we built specialised systems like Bepoz, Deliverit, Idealpos, Ordermate, and Swiftpos for different sectors. Oolio One is a modern cloud platform designed for casual dining, fine dining and QSR businesses that brings POS, payments, self-service, loyalty and reporting into one system, so operators don’t need multiple platforms."
